Big Day

Apologies for not posting sooner, but as you can probably tell from this posting, we've been rather busy. Jon and I decided to get married and after only ten or so days of planning, we did so on Saturday. It was a lovely day, shared with Jon's Mum, my parents and brother, my cousin Kate and Jon's friend Steve and his girlfriend Claire. We are planning on having a bigger celebration next year and hope you can all make it. We decided to make Saturday as informal and small as possible as it was something we wanted to do for Bean and realised that it would also make our lives a lot easier. So, I hope you'll all understand and look forward to celebrating our day again early next year...date TBC. As you can see from the photos, Bean is growing at a remarkable pace and it's only six weeks now until due date. Still there seems like there is a mountain of things to do, although I've got the nappies in! Next week we are heading down to Cornwall for a week or so, which we are really excited about. Sarah and Steve are getting married and although I've never met Jon's sister, I feel like I know her really well. I've never been to Cornwall either, so am looking forward to that and the weather should be pretty good. We are going down there via London, where Jon has a job interview and I have some work to do for World Football, the World Service football programme I have worked for in the past. Not exactly sure when we are off, but before we go, we have our second parentcraft class tonight. This time it's about pain relief, something which I'm sure I'll need to know about in a matter of weeks! Well, I'll leave you with these pics and my love and hugs. Lorna and Hal, I hope you got back to Lima safely. Hope to hear from anyone who fancies posting soon. xxxx

All over the place

Am making a quick pit-stop between returning from Liverpool and heading off to London for a couple of days. I had a lovely time in Crosby, really relaxing and realised how lucky I am to have such a great family. And I'm not just saying this as I know a certain Fairy G reads my blog! I'm quite proud of myself for being able to shop her under the table....and amazed by the stamina I actually had.
Today marks seven and a half months' of pregnancy and I can now officially say I am due next month, which is pretty terrifying. Went out last week and bought various bits and bobs after having a little scare -- pre-term labour it wasn't, a bloody great big stitch it was -- and realising that if the baby was born there were lots of things we didn't have. Well, we now have most things, although there are still a few left over.
The Bean got a gorgeous basket of baby goodies from Fairy G and a really sweet little pack of clothing and booties from Kate and Frank along with a squishy polar bear that I want to keep for myself!
It was lovely to catch up with the rellies and spend some time with Nanna, although she wasn't feeling great on the Friday and then had to deal with a flooded bathroom floor on the Saturday...good thing that Auntie Jane and Bob were staying the night and could help her out. Kate and Frank and I went around to Maz (Kate's best mate and a friend of mine from our teenage years) and Sam (one of Frank's best mates) for a Thai takeaway on Saturday, after a lazy day during which Fairy G treated me to a manicure and pedicure by Tinkerbell (Maz' s sister in law). We saw Ellen and Si and the kids on Saturday afternoon which was nice, if a little exhausting and then I went round to Shaun and Liz's on Sunday for a barbecue and had a lovely evening with them and Sarah.
As I mentioned, I'm off down to London this afternoon and will be spending tonight with Nanny Hils before a few meetings tomorrow to try and get my foot back in the freelancing door. Will let you know how that all goes. Jon flies back from the DRC tomorrow morning and I'm really looking forward to seeing him. We will probably come back here on Thursday in time for the first ante-natal or 'parentcraft' classes as they call them now.
Well, will update when we get back from London. In the meantime, love to everyone and the amigos peruanos, especially my former housemate.
